Two local actresses have been cast in the role of “Lulu” for the Walton Arts Center run of Waitress beginning on April 9.
Dahlia “Dovie” Allen (left) and Vivienne Simmons (right) will share the role of Lulu, each appearing in four performances of the Broadway musical. Both of the young actors have grown up around theater but this will be their first professional stage experience.
“I’m so excited. I’ve just always really wanted to be on the stage,” said four-year-old Vivienne from Fayetteville. Vivienne’s mother, Jennifer, works in costume design, and her brother has appeared in many local productions.
Vivienne will perform at the Friday, Saturday and Sunday performances of Waitress.
With this role, five-year-old Dovie is following other family members into theater too.
“We were so excited to find out that Dovie was chosen for the role of Lulu. After watching her daddy and big sister perform in local theater, she became interested in getting involved. Performing perfectly suits her big personality,” said Emily Allen, Dovie’s mother.
Dovie will perform at the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday performances.
Tickets start at $38 plus applicable fees and can be purchased in-person at the Walton Arts Center Box Office, by calling 479.443.5600 or by visiting waltonartscenter.org. Patrons also can get reserved parking for $7 when they purchase their show tickets.
