The University of Arkansas on Wednesday released its economic impact report at a joint news conference with the Northwest Arkansas Council.
New details show that the University of Arkansas feeds $2.2 billion into the states economy.
This number has tripled over the last decade through the growth in students, alumni and research.
“Maybe we would be projecting about the same, but we were surprised we reached a billion dollars, and then in hindsight, I’m not surprised at all because I see what happens everyday on a daily basis at the university of Arkansas,” said Joseph Steinmetz, University of Arkansas chancellor.
The last reports were done in 2009, 2014 and now 2019.
