University of Arkansas student Caitlin Ahrens has been named an Outstanding Young American by the Junior Chamber International’s United States division.
The university will recognize Ahrens, a doctoral student in space and planetary sciences, at the Razorbacks football game on Saturday, Sept. 15.
Ahrens was selected for her advocacy of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Ahrens gives speeches about space to local groups and at the Fayetteville Public Library. She also serves as a NASA Solar System Ambassador where she visits local schools to talk to students about NASA’s space missions.
Junior Chamber International will celebrate the U of A student at an awards ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 29 in Denver.
Other award winners include John F. Kennedy, Elvis Presley and Kurt Warner.
