(KARK) A University of Central Arkansas student has been accused of making an online threat.
It’s one of two online threats made against schools in Faulkner County on Monday, according to separate police agencies.
The UCA Police Department posted the following on its webpage late Monday morning:
“A message was recently posted on a social media site referring to a possible threat on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas.
The UCA Police Department investigated immediately and a suspect, a UCA student, is now in custody. Police are working with the prosecuting attorney and the FBI to determine appropriate charges. – Chief Larry James.”
Minutes before the post, Conway Police issued a news release on a similar threat.
The Conway Police Department (CPD) says an anonymous post that contained a threat to “shoot-up a Faulkner County School” was discovered online around 7:50 a.m. today.
The CPD and the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office took immediate steps to secure the schools and finding the source of the post.
By 9 a.m., the CPD says the alleged poster had been tracked down in Conway and the threat alleviated.
Police are not yet releasing any other details.
