SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KNWA) — Springdale police have caught the man they say beat and stabbed another man to death in May.

Zachary Harlan, 34, was arrested on suspicion of capital murder, aggravated residential burglary and felony theft of property, according to a news release issued by Capt. Derek Hudson with the Springdale Police Department.

Police were called to the 2600 block of Moulton Lane on May 14 to perform a welfare check. A dispatcher had been told that resident Steve March had not been answering his phone and wasn’t showing up to work, according to the news release.

When police arrived they found March dead.

“There were suspicious circumstances around the death,” Hudson said.

An investigation was launched and it was determined that the cause of death was blunt force trauma and stab wounds, the news release states.

Harlan was developed as a suspect based on evidence found during the investigation, the news release states.

Harlan is in the custody of the Benton County Detention Center.
