UPDATE: Man Accused of Causing Deadly Rogers Crash While on Acid Accused of Negligent Homicide

UPDATE:  The driver accused of causing a deadly crash in Rogers, while he had acid in his system, faces a slew of additional charges including negligent homicide, according to the Benton County Detention Center Inmate roster.

Andrew Keith Scheffler, 19, was booked into the Benton County Adult Detention Center at 12:50 a.m. on Thursday, January 17.

The crash occurred Wednesday, January 16, at around 6:07 p.m. when the 2006 Subaru Impreza Scheffler was driving slammed into a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am in the area of South 8th Street and West Price Lane.

Four people inside the Grand Am were pinned and had to be extricated by Rogers firefighters, who used the jaws of life to free them. The driver of the Grand Am, Lindsey Frame, died from injuries sustained in the collision.

Scheffler left the scene on foot but was later located by an officer.

Scheffler told the officer he was, “on acid,” according to a police report.  

The report states that Scheffler hit the officer in the face while being arrested and placed in the patrol car.

Scheffler was also booked into the jail for felony robbery, two counts felony breaking or entering, three counts of felony second-degree battery, felony leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor driving on a suspended license and misdemeanor failure to obey traffic control device.

Bond for Scheffler is $150,000 and his first court daye is February 25, 2019.

UPDATE: A deadly car crash, caused by a driver of a car who ran through a stop light, was on acid, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The two-car crash happened Wednesday at 6:07 p.m., January 16, in the area of South 8th Street and West Price Lane, according to Rogers police.

There were four passengers in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, when the driver of the 2006 Subaru Impreza slammed into the Grand Am, killing the driver, later identified as Lindsey Frame; three passengers were extricated from the car and hospitalized, their condition is unknown, according to court and police reports.

Police said the driver of the 2006 Subaru left the scene on foot.

Around 6:30 p.m., a patrol officer made contact with the suspect, Andrew Keith Scheffler, 19, from Rogers, near the intersection of S 8th Street and W New Hope Road, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Scheffler told the officer he was, “on acid,” according to the report.  

The report states that Scheffler hit the officer in the face while being arrested and placed in the patrol car.

While at the station, Rogers police asked Scheffler if he wanted to speak about the incident, and Scheffler said, “No, I’m still lost in my mind on acid,” according the the affidavit of probable cause.

Benton County jail is holding Scheffler for Felony Robbery, Breaking or Entering, Battery in the 2nd Degree.  he’s being held on no bond.  His court date is February, 205, 2019.

Scheffler was previously arrested in 2018 for felony drug possession and felony drug paraphernalia.

Benton County Prosecuting Attorney Nathan Smith told KNWA, “the case will be evaluated and evidence will be looked over by the prosecutors office to determine which charges to file.”

The Rogers Fire Department is on the scene of a car accident at South 8th Street and West Price Lane in Rogers, according to their Twitter account.

Four people have been removed from one vehicle, using ‘jaws of life,’ according to Fire Chief Tom Jenkins, and an additional ambulance was requested.

The accident happened shortly after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16., according to Rogers’ fire.
