UPDATE: One Arrest Made in Fort Smith Double-Homicide; Nationwide Manhunt Underway



Police have arrested one man and are searching for another in connection to a double homicide at an apartment complex in Fort Smith. 

According to Fort Smith Police, arrest warrants have been issued for Marcus Collins, 29, and Neirod Medlock, 19, for two counts of 1st-degree murder, one count of residential aggravated burglary and two counts of kidnapping.

All charges are Class Y felonies. Bond has been set at $500,000.00 cash.

Warrants were served on Neirod Medlock at the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center where he was being held on probable cause on two counts of kidnapping.

Manhunt underway for Marcus Collins

Investigators have initiated a nationwide search for Marcus Collins who is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Marcus Collins is asked to call the Fort Smith Police Department at 479-709-5100. Individuals with information may also call Crimestoppers at 78-CRIME, where information leading to an arrest, in this case, may lead to a cash reward up to $1,000.00


Fort Smith police have provided the names of the victims of a double homicide at an apartment complex on Thursday.

The victims were identified as Brionna Belcher, 24, and Jonathan Harris, 43, both of whom died from gunshot wounds, according to Sgt. Wendall Sampson, community relations supervisor for the Fort Smith Police Department.

Police was called to a shooting around 4:00 a.m. at the West Apartments located on North 50th Street.

Police said the two deaths have been ruled out as murder-suicide.

“The identity of any suspect(s) is unknown at this time, and detectives ask that if anyone has information relating to this offense to please contact the Fort Smith Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at (479) 709-5116 or info@fortsmithpd.org,” Sampson said.


Two people are dead following a shooting on Thursday at an apartment complex in Fort Smith, according to police.

Officers with the Fort Smith Police Department said they responded to a shooting around 4:00 a.m. at the West Apartments located on North 50th Street. They said a 43-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were killed in the shooting.

Police say they can rule out the incident as a murder-suicide. 

No arrests have been made and police say there are no suspects yet.
