The man who was shot during an officer-involved shooting was pronounced dead on Friday.
The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave.
One man was taken to an area hospital following an officer-involved shooting on Thursday (July 26) in Springdale, according to deputies.
Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to a domestic disturbance at a home on Sonora Acres Road in Springdale around 11:15 p.m. on Thursday. The sheriff’s office called in officers with the Springdale Police Department for assistance.
When law enforcement arrived on scene, deputies said they were approached by a man with a gun. The man refused to put down the gun, and that’s when he was shot, according to deputies.
The man was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. His name and condition have not been released.
Arkansas State Police will investigate the shooting.
