UPDATE: A suspect has been taken into custody following a standoff with Benton County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team members.

Kenneth Farr, 37, was peacefully apprehended following a standoff with law enforcement officers and SWAT Team members in the area of Cemetery Road and Highway 62 in Rogers, according to Sgt. Shannon Jenkins with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene after a postal worker found a gun in a mailbox, according to Jenkins.

Deputies arrived at the scene and found a loaded gun inside the mailbox. Deputies attempted to speak with Farr about the gun, but he ran inside a trailer and barricaded himself inside, Jenkins said.

Law enforcement officials attempted to persuade Farr to exit the trailer, but to no avail. SWAT Team members arrived at the scene and were able to convince Farr to surrender peacefully, according to Jenkins.

Jenkins said the mailbox the gun was found in does not belong to Farr. No information has been provided on who the mailbox belongs to.

Authorities found that Farr was wanted on a parole absconding warrant. Other charges related to the standoff are pending.
