VAN BUREN, Ark. (KFTA) — A Van Buren man is in critical condition Tuesday after being shocked in the Bricktown Canal in Oklahoma City.

Brandon Gann jumped into the canal after 23-year-old Wesley Seeley fell in after leaning against a light pedestal.

The pedestal and the wires charged the water and shocked Seeley, who later died.

Gann was transported to the Oklahoma University Medical Center.

Here’s a statement from Gann’s Wife’s Facebook page:

“He has opened his eyes and is responsive to commands can move all of his limbs and can breathe on his own. We are letting him rest for the night and then tomorrow we will figure out if we can take him off the ventilator. There are no words to express the joy and gratitude that we felt in the last 30 minutes. Today is one of the best days of my life and I am at a loss when it comes the amount of support that has given us so much light in this dark place we are in. He is the fighter we all knew he was.”
