News

A Van Buren woman accused of killing the father of her child could spend the rest of her life in prison.

Jessica Howard was arraigned and formally charged with first-degree murder in the death of Gabriel Quispe.

His body was found last Wednesday near Dripping Springs Cemetery in Crawford County.

The two share a four-and-half-year-old child, according to Crawford County deputies.

Authorities said Howard told them she asked Quispe for a ride and lured him to the cemetery, where she then robbed and shot him to death.

“We have a statement from her. She subsequently confessed when we first met with her and provided details that are consistent with the crime scene,” said Crawford County Sheriff Ron Brown.

In addition to first-degree murder, Howard Is also facing charges of felony with a firearm and theft of property.

If convicted she could spend between 40 years and life behind bars.
