FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KFTA) — A group of retired military veterans visited Hellstern Middle School students on Friday morning to teach flag etiquette.
The students were taught what the colors on the flag mean, the history of the Star-Spangled Banner and Why they should stand for the pledge of alliance.
“It’s important to recognize and appreciate our veterans and thank then for their service, so to get them to come into the community and share why this is important and what they fought for is very meaningful for the kids,” said Krystle Smith, Hellstern Middle School teacher.
The students lined up and greeted the veterans when they arrived, to show respect for having them at the school.
