The Arkansas Music Pavilion announced its 2020 “New Vision” Friday morning. A major renovation and new partnership that will continue to bring some of the best entertainment to Northwest Arkansas.
Thanks to donations from the biggest companies right here in Northwest Arkansas, the Arkansas Music Pavilion has a new partner and is getting a renovation that will put the Walmart AMP on the entertainment map.
“This is an amazing day. It’s one of those moments where you look at the history of an organization and you look at the history of a venue and this is one of those special times for us,” said Lane.
The Walmart amp has now partnered with LIVE Nation, one of the largest entertainment companies in the world to bring the best entertainment to Northwest Arkansas. With the help of local donors, the venue is also undergoing a major expansion to bring a bigger and better experience to guests.
“It’s really going to give the community an opportunity to have a space that they can use. Right now it’s nice for community events but with the new expanded space it will make it that much better,” said Walmart Vice President of Event Solutions, Mark Henneberger.
The 13.9 million dollar expansion will add more restrooms, a larger box office to add convenience for guests, more entrances and food courts, two new outdoor plazas , state of the art video screens and 1,000 more seats.
Walmart AMP and Walton Arts Center CEO Peter Lane also said this is a major addition to an already growing Northwest Arkansas.
“When I hear Live Nation say things like, “we want to make you one of the top 50 venues in the country”, it gets everybody excited. We see ourselves as one of the tops already but it’s nice when others from the outside recognize and see the value of what Northwest Arkansas has and what it can be,” said Lane.
The renovation to the AMP will begin next November and is slated to be completed within 7 months. The AMP said no concerts will be interrupted by construction.
