Walmart Clean Energy Project Reduces Carbon Footprint

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KFTA) – Procter & Gamble and Tide announced its commitment to Walmart’s clean energy project, to reduce greenhouse gas production.

It aims to lessen supply chain emissions by one gigaton by 2030.

That’s the equivalent to taking 211 million passenger vehicles off U.S. roads for a year.

“We’re challenging our suppliers to come along with us on the journey and to look at the product and the whole life cycle of the product and say, what can they do to really reduce impact,” said Laura Phillips, Walmart Global Sustainability senior vice president.

Walmart launched Project Gigaton in 2017 with the goal of eliminating one-billion metric tons of CO2 emissions from its supply chain by 2030.
