Walmart Opens Augmented Reality Experience to Benefit Children’s Hospital

ROGERS, Ark. (KNWA) — Walmart is opening an augmented reality experience in Northwest Arkansas to benefit Arkansas Children’s Northwest.

The presentation at Pleasant Grove Crossing is designed to let Walmart associates and customers get to know some of the patients at the hospital.

Customers open an app on their phone that will tell the back stories of patients that are represented in the display.

“They might have to visit the hospital three times a week, or we might have to stay at the hospital for multiple days many times a year.  It just depends on the child, or it might be as simple as a broken arm that they had to have fixed,” said Patrice Johnson, director of Children’s Miracle Network Corporate Partnerships.

Walmart has raised almost $1 billion for the Children’s Miracle Network in the United States and Canada.
