Walmart is aiming to increase their truck drivers’ wages.
Walmart officials announced Wednesday that they are making a “significant investment” in truck driver wages as part of the company’s commitment to strengthening its trucking fleet in the state and across the nation.
Truck drivers will receive a per mile increase of .01 cent and a .50 cent increase in activity pay for arrive and arrive/drop occurrences starting February, according to a news release.
“That means Walmart drivers will now be paid up to $1 every time they arrive at their destination and drop a trailer,” the news release states. “With this increase, Walmart drivers can earn an average of $87,500 in their first year of employment with an all-in rate of nearly 89 cents per mile.”
