Walmart, United Way of NWA Team up to Fill the Bus

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — United Way of Northwest Arkansas and Walmart have teamed up to “Fill the Bus” and provide school supplies for children in need. 

The event will take place on August 4 and 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fill the Bus takes place during the sales tax holiday where school supplies and other items can be purchased without sales tax. United Way said it hopes the timing will encourage more donations. 

School supplies needed includes: 

  • Pens
  • Pencils
  • Paper
  • Notebooks
  • Markers
  • Crayons
  • Rulers
  • Tape
  • Glue Sticks
  • Backpacks

United Way said it needs 800 volunteers to collect supplies at the buses. The event will take place at Walmart Supercenters in Bentonville, Rogers, Siloam Springs, Springdale, Fayetteville, Huntsville an Pineville, Mo.

  • 406 S. Walton Blvd, Bentonville
  • 3919 N. Mall Avenue, Fayetteville
  • 2875 W. Martin Luther King Blvd, Fayetteville
  • 121 Lee Street, Huntsville
  • 4208 Pleasant Crossing Blvd, Rogers
  • 2110 W. Walnut Street, Rogers
  • 2901 Highway 412, Siloam Springs
  • 4870 Elm Springs Road, Springdale
  • 2004 S. Pleasant Street, Springdale
  • 100 Commercial Lane, Pineville, Missouri

Fill the Bus got its start in Northwest Arkansas more than a decade ago and has helped positively impact the future of kids in the area.

United Way said donors can fill a backpack with all the items a child may need for around $20.
