The Washington County Election Commission held a provisional ballot hearing Friday for anyone in the county who may have questions concerning why their vote wasn’t counted.
75 votes from provisional ballots were not counted in this year’s election.
Election Coordinator Jennifer Price said many of the problems start when voters try to register at the DMV and are incorrectly told that they are registered voters. With it becoming a growing problem, price said the issue needs to be fixed for upcoming elections.
“We’ve seen this over the years, voters who come in and think they’re registered to vote to find out that they aren’t. We want to urge voters, unless you receive something from the county clerk’s office do not assume that you are registered to vote,” said Washington County Election Coordinator Jennifer Price.
The election commission is looking at what it can do with the secretary of state’s office to find where things are going wrong.
Also at today’s meeting, the election committe officially verified the general election results and say it is now prepared for the run offs on december 4th.
