Washington County Quorum Court to consider bonus pay for essential workers

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — CORRECTION: The bonus was approved by the Washington County Finance and Budget Committee on Nov. 9, but has not yet been passed.

The ordinance is being sent to the Washington County Quorum Court for approval, which has all ready approved premium pay for employees of the Washington County Detention Center as well as the Juvenile Center and others.

The bonuses recommended to the Court on Tuesday are in addition to those previously approved.

The Quorum Court is scheduled to meet on Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.


Original Story — Washington County essential workers are receiving a bonus from the American Rescue Plan.

Employees who performed essential work from April 2020 to October 17, 2021 are eligible.

The bonus is $3 per hour, which is up to $25,000 per worker.
