Weather Conditions Create Grass Fire Potential

News

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) – This week we saw wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour and temperatures in the 80’s; it’s what firefighters call a dangerous mix.

Capt. Jeremy Ashley with the Fayetteville Fire Department said current weather conditions create the potential for grassland fire dangers that could ignite and spread, which is why burn permits are not being issued at this time.

“What we want to do is to ask people to not start any outdoor fires at this time. We’re not going to issue any burn permits and lets wait until the weather changes before we do any burning in our yards, yard waste and stuff like that,” Ashley said.

Ashley said they’ll return to issuing burn permits once the weather changes.
