#WebExtra: HGTV’s “Fixer Upper” Finale

A plot twist for the popular show ‘Stranger Things’. The creators of the Netflix show will have to defend the originality of the series in court. Filmmaker Charlie Kessler is suing Matt and Ross Duffer stating the brothers crafted the show around his idea. Kessler says he discussed the plot of his short film ‘Montauk’ with the Duffers during a film festival premiere party in 2014. ‘Montauk’ is about a violent event in a New England town surrounded by secret government projects and the paranormal. Kessler said he didn’t know about similarities between his own work and ‘Stranger things’ until the series premiered on Netflix in 2016. He is seeking monetary damages for breach of ‘implied contract’.

It’s the end of an era for a popular home improvement show. HGTV’s “Fixer Upper” has come to an end. The show first aired in 2012 and featured couple Chip and Joanna Gaines. Joanna posted a picture of the couple in 2012 and now. Chip worked as a contractor and was popular for his crazy antics like eating a cockroach. Joanna focused on design and decorating and together they rehabbed homes in the Waco, Texas area. The couple will focus on their growing family and their business ventures including their new restaurant Magnolia Table.
