Michael Harrison is like 100 million other people in this country, checking Facebook, leaving comments, writing posts. Not everyone wants to admit to it, but in its short lifespan, Facebook has impacted our world. I interviewed Michael Harrison, how else? Over Facebook messenger.
When did you join Facebook?
“I’d say it was 7 or 8 years ago,” said Michael.
He’s an early adopter. While “The Facebook” was already active on college campuses, Facebook didn’t open to the public until 2006. “It was so great because it was people I hadn’t seen since high school. And look at it now. We’re all connected with friends.
We’re sharing photos of the kids, announcing engagements and births of grandkids, new jobs, new homes, we wouldn’t know anyone’s birthday without Facebook. Michael, a real estate agent, does business on Facebook.
“To tell people, my realtor friends and past customers about a new listing that’s coming up,” said Michael.
What did we do before Facebook? It’s hard to remember.Facebook’s responsible for millions of people even getting on the internet. Moms, dads, grandparents, older Americans were still leery or even scared of computers 10 years ago.
Facebook was so easy to use and so many friends were on it, the social network was the entrance to the online, even digital age. It all started happening 12 years ago.
