The prosecutor has dropped the murder charge against a woman from Alma.

Miranda Resinos, 36, was facing charges of first-degree murder for shooting Kevin Gettridge at a house between Van Buren and Alma.

Marc McCune, Prosecuting Attorney in Van Buren, says that Resinos was justified in shooting Gettridge due to believing that he was “committing or about to commit a felony involving force or violence and that he was imminently endangering her life or imminently about to victimize her.”

Since the shooting occurred at Resinos’ residence, the prosecutor said that there was no obligation to retreat by Resinos.

Gettridge has a history of domestic battery dating back to 2012.

In January 2019, Resinos filed a report with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department alleging that Gettridge choked and struck her twice in the face.

According to the prosecutor, Gettridge has a criminal history and pattern of abuse against Resinos and another female that all involve the same type of behavior.
