BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KFTA) — Corn dogs, pizza, and cocktails are a few American favorites, but how many can say they’ve had them with squirrel?
The 7th Annual World Champion Squirrel Cook Off will take place Saturday, September 8. Founder Joe Wilson said reactions from past attendees have been positive.
“The only complaint we’ve had is running out of squirrel,” Wilson said.
Proceeds from raffles and T-shirt sales the event will go toward buying food for public servants like first responders and police officers.
“The people who take care of us, we’re going to feed them,” Wilson said. “We’re not going to feed them squirrel. Although they’d probably like it!”
Teams have a three and a half hours to prepare the squirrel before judging. There will be concessions, live music, and an alligator roast for people to enjoy. It starts at 8 a.m. at the Benton County Quail Barn located at 11570 Little Road in Bentonville, AR 72712.
The event is free and open to the public, and there is still time to compete. Contact Joe Wilson at (479) 866-4342 if interested. For more information about the competition, click here.
