XNA is making some changes to address the growing number of people flying in and out of the airport.
XNA has approved a number of projects it hopes will make the flying experience quicker and less stressful.
The airport plans to expand the security checkpoint from 60 to 70 reduce wait times. It will cost about $3 million and is still in the design phase.
Construction on XNA’s new four-story parking garage is on schedule. It’s set to be completed by August of next year, giving travelers more parking options.
There are also plans to build a bridge from the garage to the airport building.
“We’re going to do nothing but continue to grow as the region grows. So we are very much trying to keep up with the growth and get a little ahead of the growth for a change and provide amenities that we currently don’t have.”
A plan to reconstruct part of one of the airport’s taxiways has also been approved.
XNA is applying to receive federal funding to help pay for many of these projects.
