Some confusion has come about before early voting Tuesday for the Fayetteville School Board election.

The Washington County Election Commission recently learned over 900 voters eligible to vote in Zone 5 have been mistakenly listed in the wrong zone.

The Zone 5 seat is the only contested race on the Fayetteville Board of Education.

Tim Hudson is seeking re-election and is being challenged by Dwight Gonzales.

Washington County Election Coordinator Jennifer Price said a new system will be put in place to avoid confusion for voters in the future.

“So this new mapping system that the County Clerk’s office will get in June will help us discover any of those areas where maybe the maps that the state has that we have used or the precints or the street files that have been pulled over where it may be incorrect,” Price said. “We’ll be able to make all those corrections before 2020.”

Eligible voters in Zone 5 can early vote at the County Clerk’s Office in the Washington County Courthouse starting Tuesday through Friday and Monday, May 20th from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The only polling place on election day, Tuesday, May 21,  will be at the Central United Methodist Church on Dickson s\Street from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
