Correction: This story originally reported that a life jacket was found. Lt. Jenkins clarified that a jacket was found and identified by the missing kayaker’s wife, but there is no indication that the kayakers were or were not wearing life jackets.

UPDATE: 3/17 — The search for two missing kayakers resumed Friday morning. Lt. Shannon Jenkins also confirmed that a kayak and jacket were found.

“We resumed the search this morning, and that’s when we located the second kayak. So the second kayak was located across the water, away from the other kayak in that area, and somewhere in between is where the jacket was located,” Jenkins said.

According to Lt. Shannon Jenkins, the two missing kayakers are 47-year-old Charles Morris and 20-year-old Charley Morris.

Jenkins says the Morris Family traveled from Kansas City to vacation here at Beaker Lake.

“They came down here to vacation for a little bit, get out on the lake, kayak and just enjoy their time here,” Jenkins said.

Jenkins said the Benton County Sheriff’s Office received a call late afternoon from a family member of the Morris Family saying Charles and Charley have been missing for hours.

“The call came in at approximately 4:00 p.m. that we had two kayakers that were missing they went out to go kayak probably around 11:00 a.m. and just didn’t come back so mom got a little bit worried and contacted law enforcement,” Jenkins said.

Jenkins said Benton County Sheriff’s Office went straight to work to search for the two of them but says the weather has made their search difficult.

“One of the biggest things for us last night was, you know, the weather coming in the wind was definitely not in our favor I think it was like wind gusts up to 35 and the storm was coming in at about 60 miles an hour,” Jenkins said.

Jenkins said the search will continue tonight and throughout to weekend to bring Charles and Charley back home.

“We’ve had a really good team and these guys are really dedicated and doing their job; Their whole goal is to bring these two gentlemen home to their family and so they’re doing everything that they can,” Jenkins said.

ROGERS, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Benton County Sheriff’s Office are looking for a father-son kayaking duo that went missing in the Lost Bridge area of Beaver Lake on March 16.

According to Lt. Shannon Jenkins, the search is on hold due to weather conditions and a lack of visibility.

Jenkins says it will resume on March 17. The sheriff’s office asks any boaters in that area to be cautious and on the lookout for the kayakers.
