Highland Park defeated Denton Ryan 43-21 in the Texas Class 5A Division I semifinals on Saturday in AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
Highland Park quarterback 2020 Chandler Morris, the son of Arkansas head coach Chad Morris, accounted for six touchdowns and 340 yards of offense in the win. Morris passed for 265 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 75 and another trio of scores.
Morris and the Scots will take their 15-0 record against the winner of the Alvin Shadow Creek and San Antonio Wagner game on Saturday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m. also in AT&T Stadium. The Scots are looking for their third state title in a row.
For the season, Morris now has thrown for 3,786 yards and 39 touchdowns while also rushing for 640 yards and 18 more touchdowns.
Morris holds offers from the Razorbacks, Oklahoma, Clemson, Kansas, SMU, Colorado and Auburn. He was offered by the Hogs on June 15.
Morris, 6-0, 170, is considered a dual-threat quarterback. Arkansas has also offered Morris’ teammate, 2019 wide receiver Finnegan Corwin a preferred walk-on spot.
