Arkansas coach Chad Morris has hired Daniel Da Prato from Colorado. He is expected to be Tanner Burns’ replacement and coach the special teams.
Burns left last month to coach the special teams coordinator at Liberty. Da Prato announced his departure from Colorado on Twitter on Saturday.
Thank you for the most amazing 3 years in #BeautifulBoulder I want thank @RunRalphieRun @CoachMikeMac @RickGeorgeCU @buffs4life2 @Coach_mtucker for giving me the opportunity to be a #Buff4Life 💯🙌🏻 I will always be a BUFF! #GoBuffs #NewChapter pic.twitter.com/HnLCWjOkxH— Daniel Da Prato (@CoachDaPrato) February 9, 2019
He followed that up with this tweet.
Da Prato is expected to be the special teams quality control coach with the Hogs. He spent the past three seasons at Colorado under head coach Mike MacIntyre, who was fired this past November.
He was special teams coordinator at Montana State prior to the Buffaloes. He made an impact while in Boulder. This past season, Colorado led the Pac-12 in opponent kickoff returns and opponent punt returns as well as placing fourth in blocked kicks and punts.
Da Prato will have experienced players to work with at Arkansas. The Razorbacks return their kicker Connor Limpert, punter Reid Bauer, kickoff returner De’Vion Warren and punt returner Deon Stewart.
Morris has yet to name the staff replacement for John Scott Jr. who left recently for South Carolina. Scott was at Arkansas for two years and coached the defensive tackles in 2018. He had the entire defensive line in 2017.
The announcement for Scott’s replacement could come this weekend or the beginning of next week. Morris has yet to officially announce the replacement for Taylor Edwards as recruiting coordinator. Edwards left for Maryland last month. Sources indicate Morris has made that hire, but it hasn’t been announced yet.
