Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab offensive lineman Dylan Rathcke had a dream weekend.
First, he helped his team to the Division II state championship in Louisiana with a 55-46 win over St. Thomas More on Friday night. Then on Saturday he started his official visit to Arkansas that ended on Monday.
Following the visit, Rathcke talked about how the visit went.
“Ryan Winkel hosted me,” Rathcke said. “It was very fun. They are some great guys.”
Rathcke talked about the highlights of the visit to Arkansas.
“Really just getting to meet some of the other O-linemen and knowing who I will be playing with,” Rathcke said.
The other part of your big weekend was winning the state title. What was your thoughts on that when the game ended?
“I was very excited,” Rathcke said. “It is the first time that U-High has ever done it twice in a row. Everybody was just going crazy in the locker room.”
Rathcke feels he is prepared for the next level and his career at Arkansas.
“I have been coached by pro football players Kevin Mawae and Dillon Farrell and trained with Coach Keith Ballard for years,” Rathcke said. “Really I just think agility and speed.”
At 6-foot-5, 295-pounds, Rathcke is capable of playing any position on the offensive. He talked about where he’s likely targeted at this time to play.
“I’m guessing right tackle, but we’ll find out soon,” Rathcke said.
Rathcke is impressed by Dustin Fry who is his future offensive line coach at Arkansas.
“He seems like a really great dude,” Rathcke said. “He seems more like a friend than a coach. Not in the sense of, he just seems like a real good dude.”
The early signing period is Dec. 19-21.
