FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Amateur women’s golf comes to Augusta National and University of Arkansas seniors Maria Fassi and Dylan Kim will be part of the inaugural field.
Fassi and Kim were announced on Tuesday as two of 72 players who will be in the field. The event takes place the week before the Masters Tournament in April, and features 54 holes of stroke play, with a cut to 30 players taking place after 36 holes. The first two rounds will take place on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club Wednesday, April 3 and Thursday, April 4. The entire field will then play Augusta National for an official practice round Friday, April 5. The final round will take place at Augusta National on Saturday, April 6 and will feature the competitors who made the cut.
NBC Sports will broadcast three hours of live coverage and the Golf Channel’s “Live From The Masters” will provide coverage of the later rounds.
Fassi and Kim qualified by virtue of their amateur world rankings. Both are in the top-30 for international (Fassi) and American (Kim) players. Fassi is currently 11th overall and ranks first among players form Mexico. Kim is 23rd overall in the rankings.
The University of Arkansas and Blessings Golf Club are the proud hosts of the 2019 NCAA Women’s and Men’s National Championships.
