ATLANTA — Former Arkansas defensive end Deatrich Wise says he’d love to have “Super Bowl winner” forever attached to the end of his name.
The 2017 New England Patriots draft pick told us at Super Bowl Opening Night that he’s proud of what the team has accomplished — and unlike last year, they expect to win this weekend.
“It’s awesome — a testament to hard work. Stuff like this happens through hard work, dedication, and passion for the game,” Wise said.
Wise has a reputation for having a big personality and showing off dancing skills. While he may make his teammates laugh, he doesn’t get too many chuckles from his head coach.
“By making sacks and tackles,” Wise said of the only way to get Bill Belichick to crack a smile.
Wise has recorded 9.5 sacks and more than 50 tackles in his two years with the Patriots. This will mark his second Super Bowl appearance.
