Arkansas wide receiver/running back TJ Hammonds is out indefinitely after reportedly suffering a knee injury, as first reported by SEC Country.
A source close to Hammonds told the Pig Trail Nation that this injury is similar to the meniscus tear the Little Rock native suffered last season. Hammonds was still able to suit up and rushed 15 times for 88 yards with 1 touchdown.
The coaching staff has been experimenting with Hammonds at wide receiver in practice, feeling that Hammonds can bring a lot of explosive plays to the Razorback offense. When the Pig Trail Nation talked to Hammonds in June, the sophomore was excited about the opportunity.
“Coach Enos, called me to his room to say, ‘hey you can bring a lot to the table this year. Receiver, running back, just you being you is what we need,'” said Hammonds. “So I was like, ‘just tell me what to do coach, I’m here.'”
If Hammonds misses the 2017 season, he would be able to redshirt and have three years of eligibility remaining starting in 2018.
