This June marks the 10th anniversary of the Walmart Northwest Arkansas Championship, presented by P&G! To commemorate the milestone, KNWA is taking a look back at the last ten years of the LPGA event.
This week, we take a look at 2013…and it gets loud!
In 2013, the loudest hole in golf got a new look.
Tim Burke, a fan at the tournament, was excited about the 17th hole.
“We’re going to have some fun, get a little loud, get a little crazy watch the ladies play,” Burke said.
The tournament built this stadium in 2013 to help amp up the volume.
“They want people to get involved and cheer and yell and scream,” Burke said. “I think it’s awesome.”
You will only find the loudest hole in golf at the #NWAChampionship.
In 2013, there was something else to get loud about. The tournament donated $100,000 to the cancer challenge.
The cancer challenge is a non-profit that partners with local hospitals and treatment centers to help cancer patients cover costs.
2013 was also the year that 21C Museum Hotel had its grand opening.
The hotel features 104 rooms, free art exhibit and a restaurant with a James Beard recognized chef.
Since its opening in February 2013, Trip Advisor has named it the county’s number one hot new hotel!
