Arkansas junior closer Matt Cronin is the latest Hog off the board in the 2019 MLB Draft. Cronin was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 4th round with the 123rd overall pick.
The Navarre, Florida native has been dominate for the Hogs on the mound the last two seasons racking up 25 saves in 48 total appearances. The 14 saves in 2018 broke a school record by former Hog Colby Suggs.
This season Cronin has pitched in 23 games and has a 2.00 ERA with a 1-0 record. He has 40 strikeouts and 14 walks in 27 innings this season. He is tied for 22nd in the NCAA with his 12 saves this season.
Cronin came in as the 73rd ranked prospect by MLB.com. He joins teammate Isaiah Campbell as drafted Hogs for the 2019 MLB Draft.
Cronin and the Hogs will return to the field this weekend in the Fayetteville Super Regional against Ole Miss.
