Missouri will be down a running back today when junior Damarea Crockett won’t play against the Razorbacks.
Crockett tweeted out about not playing prior to the game today.
I need my boys to make it 3-0 against the hogs since 2016 today! However while I won’t be playing against Arkansas for the 3rd time, I’ve come to the conclusion that something’s just aren’t meant to be. #MIZ 🚫🐷 pic.twitter.com/zNUN5KpSx7— Damarea Crockett #16 (@DamareaCrockett) November 23, 2018
The former Little Rock Christian standout will miss the Arkansas game for the third time in as many seasons. Crockett is second on the team in rushing with 147 carries for 709 yards and seven touchdowns. He has also caught 12 passes for 88 yards and a touchdown.
Arkansas’ John Chavis, the defensive coordinator, was asked about Crockett on Monday and joked about hoping he didn’t play today.
“He has been injured a little bit,” Chavis said. “I don’t like the fact he has been injured, but if he didn’t play it wouldn’t bother me (laughing). No, he’s a good player. He’s a really good player. Certainly you look at that in their offense, he fits that. He’s a powerful guy. He has got good size, he runs hard and he’s very physical.”
Missouri is also expected to be without sophomore tight end Albert Okwuegbunam. He has played in nine games and has 43 receptions for 466 yards and six touchdowns.
The kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. today and televised on CBS. Missouri (7-4, 3-4) is favored over Arkansas (2-9, 0-7) in a game that will be played in what could possibly be a heavy rain.
