A little more than three weeks in charge of the Arkansas Men’s Basketball Program, Eric Musselman has been very busy recruiting, making trips over the weekend to Atlanta and Dallas. On the March Madness 365 Podcast with Andy Katz, Musselman addressed his recruiting philosophy and how he’ll approach it at Arkansas.
“When you are at a place like Arkansas you have the ability to recruit four and five star players. We want to aggressively do that. When you recruit high, high level high school players there needs to be an incredible amount of time commitment from the head coach as well as your entire assistant coaches. We need to do that and we will do that,” Musselman said.
On the court, the Former Nevada Head Coach also explained how the Hogs look in the frontcourt.
“Right now Andy we do not have a five man and we might not be able to have a five man. So we might have to do what we did at Nevada for three years which is play guys that are small forwards or power forwards play them at that five spot. Because what we don’t want to do is we want to try to avoid making a recruiting mistake in just filling a hole,” Musselman notes.
That diligence is one of the big reasons he was hired from Nevada where he reached three consecutive NCAA Tournaments and elevated the Wolf Pack as high as number five in the nation this past season.
