Drew Amman: “We are back on the Pigtrail and we are visiting as always with our recruiting guy Richard Davenport from WholeHogSports and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. RD let’s begin with this guy Penei Sewell, he is an o-lineman from the class of 2018. I understand he visited yesterday?”

Richard Davenport: “That he did along with his brother Noah who is a freshman linebacker who has offers from Arizona State and Nevada. So I guess his little brother, you can say his little brother he is a six foot, six one two hundred fifty pounds. But he is one of the top offensive lineman in the country. Number seven offensive guard and number 148 overall prospect according to ESPN. Definitely a major target of Arkansas. I was trading some text and he had a really good time. Very impressed with coach Bielema. Could really tell that coach Bielema cares for his players and I think that really resonated with him. Also really hit it off with coach Anderson and felt very comfortable with him. He could see where guys would really bust their butts and want to play hard for him. So overall it was a really good visit and I think Arkansas helped themselves with him.”

Drew Amman: “Alright you mentioned Noah so let’s talk a little bit about Noah. What kind of linebacker is he? What kind of style does he bring?”

Richard Davenport: “He is very physical and you look at his video he is just a very physical kid. Good speed. Has a nose for the football. He is going to be probably one of the top prospects for the 2020 class. So it was good to get him on campus too. Obviously I would imagine those two guys would like to at least go to the same college. They are several years a part but I know they are a tight knit family.”

Drew Amman: “Let’s talk about a junior college guy, that is Antar Thompson. Antar is a defensive tackle 6’5″ 305. I understand that he has twelve offers?”

Richard Davenport: “Yeah coach Paul Rhoads, defensive coordinator, offered him on Thursday. He was telling him how he could utilize him at the defensive end spot. You think 6’5″ 305 pounds you think of a tackle, nose guard type situation but coach Rhoads wants to utilize him at defensive end. He is very light on his feet. He has got very good quickness and speed for his size. He plans to visit or is looking to visit Arkansas. He wants to make official visits this summer. I think Arkansas has a good shot at getting one of those. He’s a December grad. He won’t be able to make too many visits during the season so he is trying to load up this summer.”

Drew Amman: “Let’s talk basketball now and on the hardwood we are talking about Josh LeBlanc, 6’7″ 210. 18 offers including one from the Razorbacks.”

Richard Davenport: “Scotty Thurman offered him recently and I saw him at Real Deal in the Rock and he had two offers at the time. Texas A&M and UA-Birmingham. In one months time he has added 16 other offers obviously Arkansas being one of them. He said he’s definitely visiting Arkansas. He is 6’7″ 210 pounds and he has a wing span of 7 feet. He is extremely long. Probably one of the longest guys for his size in the country. So that added length makes him a lot bigger than he actually is.”

Drew Amman: “Okay Ian Steere he is a power forward. 6’9″ 250. More than 20 offers. Also he has an offer from the Hogs.”

Richard Davenport: “Another Scotty Thurman recruit. He is looking to visit Arkansas. You said it, 6’9″ 250. Very physical kid but also very athletic. Very impressive kid too in talking to him over the phone.  A guy that really has his head on straight. Definitely fits into with what coach Anderson is looking for high character type kids. Both of these guys that we are talking about. He is a 3.8 student. LeBlanc is a 4.0 student. So obviously high character kids.”

Drew Amman: “Alright RD always thanks so much. That is Richard Davenport from WholeHogSports and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. That is your recruiting report. Back with more after this as Drew Morgan the former Hog talking with our very own Alyssa Orange.”
