Just a Thought Thursday: Ole Miss vs. Arkansas: I'm Hooked on this Matchup

Four straight Hog Wins in this series, the last three by a combined six points. The adrenaline rush from Razorback Victories over the Rebels going back through 2014 makes this a highly-anticipated SEC West Matchup.  It should be a lot of fun at War Memorial Stadium (first SEC Night game there since 1999).  It's not so much that neither team has an SEC win this season (of course, it makes my job easier anytime the Hogs win, because let's face it, it's easier to talk about on-air). Several factors continue to move the needle in week seven:

1)  Ole Miss-Arkansas has been a classic from 2015-17

2017 result: 38-37 Arkansas (after being down 31-7)

2016 result: 34-30 Arkansas

2015 result (The Hunter Heave): 53-52 Arkansas in OT

2) This is a good gauge for the rest of the year (very winnable game, and tone-setter with three games left before the bye week)

3) Yeah Arkansas is 1-5, but major recruiting strides continue (see Hudson Henry's Commitment...the 22nd for 2019)

***Sure the Hogs have to win five of their last six to make a bowl game. I'm only thinking about this week...this game, for the time being.  Whether it was two high-powered offenses throwing one jab after another in a shootout in 2015...J-Red scoring the game-winner in 2016...Santos Ramirez forcing and recovering a fumble, failing to quit in '17 with the Hogs down 24... Kevin Richardson picking up a fumble and taking it to the house, or Connor Limpert hitting the game-winning field goal, we've seen some classics.

Finally, an SEC opponent is back at War Memorial Stadium for the first time since 2014. Here's hoping the place is packed under the lights.
