Projecting the NCAA Tournament Field, which teams should host Regionals, and how they’re set up in the postseason…just a few topics covered by National Writers. We catch up with two of the best…Kendall Rogers, Co-Managing Editor for D1Baseball & Baseball America Writer Teddy Cahill.
They agree, Arkansas is made for a long postseason run and trip to Omaha:
“Yeah there is no doubt about it. I think you when you look at the SEC, really the top four teams, Georgia, Mississippi State, Vandy and Arkansas are all teams I feel like have a chance to win a national championship. Again the big key for me when I look at Arkansas is how those two freshmen pitch throughout the postseason. It is a little different pitching in a weekend in the SEC, then pitching with your season on the line. So if those two guys pitch well and then the bullpen takes care of business with Cronin, Kole Ramage guys like that. I like their chances to get to Omaha. They could win it all,” Rogers said.
“Just what they have to do in the SEC West alone. You just have to beat so many different teams that are built so many different ways. A&M with their pitching. Mississippi State with their bats. For what you see week in and week out for this ten week season in the SEC you are battle tested. No matter what they get thrown by the committee in a regional or super regional if they get there. I think they are going to have some experience they can fall back on and say we have been through something like this before,” Cahill said.
The Hogs are 41-17 as they get set to host NCAA Regionals for the third year in a row.
